Ways to Give to Journeys |
Besides volunteering at the HOPE Center or any one of our 19 PADS sites, there are many ways to help support the mission of Journeys from PADS to HOPE. Journeys relies on charitable donations and because of them, has been able to transition over 500 clients into homes, positively impacting public safety, village services, and property values. Giving to Journeys is giving to your community!
In-Kind Donation
See our website “Wish List” for items that would be most beneficial to our clients. Donations may be dropped off at Journeys between 9:00am and 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, at the rear entrance of the building.
Monetary and Planned Giving
Consider making a monetary donation to help support Journeys’ programs and services, or a planned giving to secure the future of Journeys in the form of a will or bequest, life insurance policy, or annuity.
Corporate Match
Check with your employer to see how you may be able to double your donation to Journeys.
Individual Retirement Account
If you have an IRA and will be 70-1/2 or older this year, there’s a great deal for you and any charity you choose. The U.S. Congress recently passed the “Tax Extenders and Alternative Minimum Tax Relief Act of 2008” which permits an IRA owner to make a direct transfer to charity in 2008 or 2009, which will not be subject to income tax. Fill out an IRA Charitable Distribution Request, list how much money you want to distribute directly to a charity (say, Journeys from PADS to HOPE), sign and date the form, and send it to the institution holding your IRA assets, which will make out a check to the charity you select. Consult your tax advisor for details!

What if you could raise money for Journeys just by doing something you do every day – searching the internet? The answer is GoodSearch, a powerful search engine that is charity’s answer to Google. GoodSearch will donate 50% of its revenue to Journeys if you designate it as your charity. Go to www.goodsearch.com, scroll down to “Who do you Goodsearch for?” and enter Journeys from PADS to HOPE. Then enter your search subject in the box above it and click on “Search.” GoodSearch as recently expanded to include www.GoodShop, an online shopping mall of world-class merchants that also donate a percentage of their sales to charity. Be sure to designate Journeys from PADS to HOPE as your charity of choice!
